Default Help needed: Modify a flash-applet

Hi there,

I'm gonna buy this nice looking flash gallery applet (LINK)but will have to modify it somewhat to fit my needs. I've already downloaded the trial version of Adobe Flash CS3 but unfortunately got no clue about how flash works. Maybe someone can lend me a hand on these modifications:

1. The slides only change once the user clicks on the preview thumbnails. I'd like to change this, so that the applet automatically moves from one slide to the next and and the end loop back to the beginning.

2. Have the enlarged picture funktion as a link to the URL specified in the external XML file (at present, the applet adds a simple text link below the picture). Also, all additional buttons (like next, prev and close) can be turned off.

Any ideas, how I can do this?

Thanks,
TOM

I've never worked with that particular Flash compnent so I'm not sure if any of those are possible. You can try posting at their support forum and seeing what the response is.

If you haven't already bought it, I suggerst looking at SlideShowPro. It's $9 more, but I think will be worth it for you in the long run. It's a much more robust and feature-rich application and can do all of those things that you need.

The zip File comes with a .fla file of the demo. The problem is, that I don't know how Flash works and what I'd have to change to make these changes :-(

Thanks for the link to SlideShowPro. Can you tell me, if it's possible to come up with an flash applet, that looks like the Demo linked to in my first posting (transparent background, rounded corners)?

Transparent background...yes.

Rounded corners, not directly. You could get close my editing the image to have rounded corners to being with.

The thing is that SlideShowPro is fairly customizable through their API. So, pretty much anything that you might need from a flash gallery is available. You should check out what some people have done with that component on SSP's website! Some really creative and awesome stuff!
