Default Newbie: Problems with Pausing RSS Scroller

    Hi everyone!

I'm an absolute php newbie, and I'm probably overlooking something really simple here, so I hope you can help me out...

I would like to have a ticker/scroller on my website, which reads headlines off my blog, and displays them. Easy: I found Dynamic Drive's Pausing RSS Scroller which does exactly what I need... fantastic!

My web server doesn't support php right now, but I may be able to persuade my father (it's his site) to upgrade soon-ish. In the meantime, I have subscribed for a free webspace which definitely does support php - http://zappsinc.awardspace.com/demo.htm. I am thinking of eventually using this server to house my php script, and then link to it from my actual site. But anyway, that's beside the point.

As you'll see from the above link, sometimes the scroller works, and sometimes it doesn't. Most of the time, it says "It's not possible to reach RSS file ..." - yet I've followed the Documentation to the letter, and the rss feeds do exist - I can load them in my internet browser.

Yet every now and then, it will work, and I'll see the CNN headlines in the top box (but nothing in the bottom box). Maybe it's working off some browser caches or something?? But, as I say, it only works 10% of the time... and I can't figure out why!!

So, please can you help me get it working? If you need any more information, please just ask and I'll give it.

    Thank you so much!

    DZ

Please don't start multiple threads on the same subject. Since I've already posted a response here: http://www.dynamicdrive.com/forums/s...ead.php?t=9326 , I'll close this thread. In the future, you should create a new thread for your questions, and not add to an existing one.
