    Default javascript conflicts blank pages in IE

    Hi,

    I have a floating DHTML menu linked to my web pages and JavaScript image zoom code linked to images on the pages, but both scripts won't work together in IE6. The page is just white/blank. In FF they work together fine. I've been trying to work out the reason for the conflict but don't have the necessary knowledge about JavaScript. Could someone help me out, please?

    Just after the opening body tag:

    <body>
    <!-- DO NOT MOVE! The following AllWebMenus code must always be placed right AFTER the BODY tag-->
    <!-- ******** BEGIN ALLWEBMENUS CODE FOR allwebmenu ******** -->
    <span id='xawmMenuPathImg-allwebmenu' style='position:absolute;top:-50px'><img name='awmMenuPathImg-allwebmenu' id='awmMenuPathImg-allwebmenu' src='./awmmenupath.gif' alt=''></span><script type='text/javascript'>var MenuLinkedBy='AllWebMenus [4]', awmBN='622'; awmAltUrl='';</script><script charset='UTF-8' src='./allwebmenu.js' language='JavaScript1.2' type='text/javascript'></script><script type='text/javascript'>awmBuildMenu();</script>
    <!-- ******** END ALLWEBMENUS CODE FOR allwebmenu ******** -->

    Images have an ONMOUSEOVER event linked to them:

    <div class="maintext">
    <p align="center"><span class="style9">Peka Peka House by Architecture Workshop</span></p>
    <div class="headertitle">
    <table width="25%" border="0" align="right" cellpadding="1" bordercolor="#FFFFFF" bgcolor="#FFFFFF">
    <caption align="bottom" class="style3">
    Peka Peka House
    </caption>
    <tr>
    <td><div align="center"><img src="pekapeka/700/CRW_8948_Robert_Such.jpg" name="myImage" width="117" height="175" hspace="10" vspace="10" border="0"
    ONMOUSEOVER="javascript:myImage.height=700;myImage.width=468"
    ONMOUSEOUT="javascript:myImage.width=117;myImage.height=175"></div></td></tr>
    </tr>
    </table>

    Thanks,

    NoBob.

    I uploaded the variations to see how things look. Am even more confused since even the page with only DHTML doesn't work in IE any more (I linked the DHTML to a blank HTML page and it works fine!).

    (at the moment only the top pic can be zoomed)

    http://robertsuch.com/wp_pekapeka.html (DHTML but not image zoom) works in FF but not IE

    http://robertsuch.com/wp_pekapeka_2.html (DHTML and image zoom) works in FF, but not IE

    http://robertsuch.com/wp_pekapeka_3.html (no DHTML and no image zoom) works in both FF and IE

    http://robertsuch.com/wp_pekapeka_4.html (image zoom only) works in FF and IE

    http://robertsuch.com/DHTML_test.html (only DHTML linked to blank HTML page) works in both FF and IE

    Thanks,
    NoBob.

    Where you have this:

    Code:
    <style type="text/css">
    <!--
    .style10 {
    	font-family: Arial, Helvetica, Verdana, sans-serif;
    	font-size: 12px;
    }
    .style9 {
    	font-family: Verdana, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;
    	font-size: 12px;
    	font-weight: bold;
    	color: #330000;
    }
    .style3 {font-family: Verdana, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;
    	font-size: x-small;
    }
    .style4 {font-size: x-small; color: #333333; }
    .style5 {	font-family: Arial, Helvetica, Verdana, sans-serif;
    	font-weight: bold;
    	color: #999999;
    	font-size: small;
    }
    .style18 {font-family: Verdana, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif}
    .style19 {	font-family: Verdana, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;
    	color: #999999;
    	font-size: x-small;
    }
    .style21 {font-family: Verdana, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: small;
    }
    </style>
    Get rid of the red open comment block, it has no close comment block and makes IE think that the page is blank. There could be other problems.

    Excellent! Thanks John. Am I glad I don't have to start rewriting the JS...

    It works! http://robertsuch.com/wp_pekapeka_2.html
