Is this possible with a form?

Im trying to make a very basic shopping cart, I can get it all pretty much done with forms (payment through paypal or money order/check), but what I cant figure out is how to have a limited quanity. I need so that if I have 2 of an item, that after the 2nd item is sold, you can't purchase more.

How could I do this, even if it isnt with a form, I have no clue on what to even search for to script this. Thanks!

I will check out some php sites, PHP is my least favorite thing to work with. I was hoping thered be a way with another script.
