HTML Slide shows

Hello - you guys helped me once already, so here I come again with another question.

I am looking for an HTML Slide show but with pan and zoom functionality. I saw some of the slide shows at Dynamic and yes they are very good...especially the one with the blends. But I am looking to take it one more step...Pan and zoom is the so called Ken Burns effect for static slide shows.

Any ideas?

I've seen a carousel slide show where you can zoom in. The problem with zoom in javascript is that it relies on the browser to resize the image. Unless you have small and large versions, this will cause distortion with most images. The effect is uneven sometimes, even with that. I've also seen panoramas. The are a little choppy in javascript owing to the math involved. The math involved in these two (pan and zoom) operations added to a slide show's math will make many browsers and/or CPU's crawl. This sort of thing would probably be better done using Flash.

thanks for getting back to me. here is what i am trying to do -

i am trying to avoid having people download a simple file to allow them view a slide show with pan and zoom. i would like for them to just click on a link which is tied to my verizon server. and then when there browser opens up, a small window opens up with typical vcr controls etc. i have dabled with proshow gold. its good...but again you need to have the viewer download the small file to view. you mentioned flash. any good sites you can direct me to better understand flash? i am new to the html world, but i was able to follow your instructions re: the floating images and it works great!

ideally i would like this stuff reside on my server. just send out the link to friends and family and that be it.

Flash is not something I know a lot about but, I do know that most modern browsers now support it via plugins that come with the browser. Flash is primarily a Macromedia devised tool however, there are now many non-Macromedia tools available to work in and with Flash. It is much more versatile where images are involved and scales very well once you are familiar with it. Also resolutions can be variable, I believe, helping out those with slower connections. I think the gold standard in Flash authoring is FlashMXProfessional[currentyear] by Macromedia.

You're wanting something pretty advanced.... the idea of flash is good (though a plugin is required) and you should look at certainly more than just html... js and other things will be very helpful.

There is a program called 3D flash animator its very easy to use and learn many thing about flash
