ajax and multicontent

Hi, I have two scripts from Dynamic Drive. One that loads an external page in a div, and one that breaks one long page into several with next and back buttons.
When the page loads by pressing a button leading there, or loading the page via URL, the next and back buttons DO NOT appear. If I hit refresh, then they appear. Also, if I leave the page alone for awhile, and click a button or load via url, then the next and back buttons show.
I'm thinking the problem has something to do with the load, refresh, or some kind of timeout...I'm not too keen with javascript, but have played with the code all morning and nothing...so I've come for help.
Anyone?

Weird. Seems to work for me the first time I load the page. i'm in Safari, the Mac browser.
Not too into JS myself, but at least this'll give you some hope... if not confuse you more. Heh.
