    Default VPN Error 806

have been trying to get VPN to work for a while but keep getting the 806 error. I have setup routing and remote access on Server 2008. I'm trying to use PPTP. I have enabled PPTP and GRE on firewalls on both the server and client. What I think might be the problem is my router. It is a Netgear WGR614v10. I have read that the SPI firewall needs to be disabled. But I do not see this firewall in the settings. What I see is a Disable Port Scan and DoS Protection option. But when I disable this it still doesn't work. But I'm not even sure if this is the problem. I feel like I have exhausted all my options. But I'm sure there is something I'm missing.

    Thanks in advance!

Hey Casspian, you need to fix VPN error 806 with the help of opening GRE port for protocol 47. This can be done by creating a new inbound rule in the advanced firewall settings, set Rule Type to Predefined, set Predefined to Routing and Remote Access. Here at Predefined Rules, choose all Routing and Remote Access entries and at Action, pick the option that says Allow the connection and press the option that says Finish. In the end, make a new outbound rule by going for similar steps. Try out https://appuals.com/vpn-error-806-gr...ed-on-windows/ this site for more information. If it doesn't work then add an exception to the firewall by going to the option of Firewall & network protection, tap Allow an app through the firewall, press Change settings, and look for your VPN in this list and choose its interlinked boxes for Private and Public. In the end, if you are unable to find your VPN app here, press on Allow another app to search and add it

Hi, to solve your problem, there are several options. First, open the GPE port for protocol 47, as mentioned above. I can also advise you to disable the firewall because it often causes different types of errors. Also, when setting up a proxy, you should look at the detailed guide on setting up a proxy. I told you about the proxy problems, but basically, the proxy and the VPN have similar issues. After all, these are things that work the same way, and they have the same goal. Good luck, my friend!
