    Default W3C: Language

A W3C check correctly discerned that a page written predominantly in Spanish had a lang="en" start tag: "Warning: This document appears to be written in Spanish but the html start tag has lang="en". Consider using lang="es" (or variant) instead."

Is there any downside to not correcting the start tag? (Doing so would take some time since it comes from included header information that is common to many pages.)

    Thanks folks.

    A.

From a validation point of view, there's no downside, as far as I know.
