    Lightbulb just a curiosity question

ok i dj for an online radio site, i was curious if there is a script we can use to open your default media player, and have it detect your internet connection, and connect to the propper url for that connection? we run two encoders for streaming one for broadband and the other for dial-up but it needs to be set up to be activated from one listen link.

    is this possible?

I have seen several schemes to do something of this nature but, they all fail to detect a broadband connection if the bandwidth happens to be taking a dip at the moment they are executing. You are better off letting the user choose. You could set a cookie so that they would only have to choose once per session or once per year or whatever (assuming they don't delete cookies).
