    Default hosting connection issues

I have an odd problem with my hosting. It appears that I can access my website through ftp, but every few seconds there are periods lasting about 20 to 30 seconds where I am unable to access my website by viewing it in a browser. My ftp access never is a cut off and I can access other websites just fine, but not the websites of mine that are hosted on a shared server.

I called my hosting service and we tried a few different things, but even during the periods when I was unable to access my website the customer service representative never had a problem viewing my website. I performed many trace route pings for animeviews.com through the command prompt and the only semi consistent problem was with 192.205.37.150 an at&t server. I was unsure whether there were any security issues with posting the report here.

Any ideas what could cause me to have access to my website through my ftp (I use fireftp with firefox), but periodically not have access to viewing my website?

Thast odd, which browser are you having trouble with?

Are there any that work when you have this issue?

Could it simply be an connectivity issue that is lasting only a few seconds.-I sometimes have browser issues with my imac and it resolves itself in 5-10 seconds
    Thanks,

    Bud

It occurs with all browsers and I can access other websites during this time and I can access my website through the ftp during those down times as well.

I was able to ask my roommate about it who is knowledgeable about hardware and connection issues. He says I need to contact my isp and tell them about the packet loss that is occurring with 192.205.37.150 an at&t server, which I will try to do.

Soooo, I figured it out... mostly. It had to do with a corrupt security update from microsoft a while back.

    Longer story:

A LAN card, using a different browser, reformatting my computer, scanning my website for malicious code, and turning off my firewall did nothing fix it. Calling my ISP and hosting service did not reveal the problem, nor were they able to recreate it. I then discovered that no one else was able to reproduce this problem even if they used my internet. I then began to look at the components of my computer hardware. After downloading linux ubuntu and Not seeing the problem I went back to Windows XP and started removing windows components one by one until suddenly after removing security update KB2347290 relating to my printer (I do not have a printer connected to my computer at all) my website became accessible to me once again . I reinstalled the windows components and the security updates and I still have no troubles.

As you can see from the date of this first post I have had trouble accessing my website since about January if I were to hazard a guess. I'm still not sure how or why a corrupt security update could effectively block me from a select few remote ip addresses. It sounds easy enough to code, but as a corrupt file it seems like a strange way for a security file to be corrupted. Either way, it feels great to be able to have access to my websites again

Sounds like the proverbial monkey at a typewriter eventually banging out the collected works of Shakespeare. "Ooops, Oh no!!!, so close, only now he's put Titus Andronicus after Troilus and Cressida. Better luck next time."
