    Question Galleria - play and pause - button controlled

    Been working on this galleria slide show www.dorsetdog.com/galleria-slide-trial-in-google-sites

    I currently have it working on Autoplay, with pause on mouseover

    HTML Code:
    <script>
        Galleria.run('#galleria', {
           picasa: 'useralbum:117361177067935925935/H2O4K9WaterBottle',
           autoplay: 3500
                   });
    </script>
    and in galleria.classic.js I put

    Code:

    var gallery = this;
            this.$('stage').hover(function() {
                gallery.pause();
            }, function() {
                gallery.play();
            })
            this.$('thumbnails').hover(function() {
                gallery.pause();
            }, function() {
                gallery.play();
            })
    But at line 56 of galleria-1.3.5.js I found

    Code:
        // list of Galleria events
        _eventlist = 'data ready thumbnail loadstart loadfinish image play pause progress ' +
    Which I presume means that the JS has a full play and pause control option. So rather than Autoplay, I want to use button controls for visitors to click on. My button control urls are

    Play - https://lh5.googleusercontent.com/-s...0/play-big.png
    and
    Pause - https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-U.../pause-big.gif

    I want those controls to be positioned in the same place so that the relevant button displays, and positioned to the right of the photo caption area (called .galleria-info-~ in the css), and to have mouse over text of "Press to play" and "Press to pause" for those buttons. See images

    So my main questions are
    - what do I need to change/add in the galleria-1.3.5.js for the Play/Pause event to work, and be triggered by my buttons?
    And, What is the script or line that I need to add to the html file?

    Many thanks

    I have used Galleria extensively for my own phots and I just down loaded a new,clean version of the "classic" theme.This is the free version.

    By just doing this and making no changes it by default requires you to use the buttons to navigate through the images.

    So first,I would delete the autoplay line from your js file
    [code]
    <script>
    Galleria.run('#galleria', {
    picasa: 'useralbum:117361177067935925935/H2O4K9WaterBottle',
    autoplay: 3500
    });
    </script>
    [code]
    and make it like this instead:
    [code]

    <script>
    Galleria.run('#galleria', {
    picasa: 'useralbum:117361177067935925935/H2O4K9WaterBottle'
    });
    </script>

    Bud, this is a new clean version downloaded on the 3rd February 2014.

    The only navigation buttons showing are the previous and next. That is not play and pause, unless you are specifically stating that your's is showing play and pause buttons. In which case, please upload a screen shot.

    Thanks

    There is an extensive support at the web site.It is quite a lot and covers everything-you just need to look for what you want to do......

    A search in their support area resulted in this thread

    oh and I miss understood your request for the buttons and their purpose.

    Please accept my apology.......
    Thanks,

    Bud, thank you for the response. Rest assured that I have spent many hours searching through Galleria.io's support pages.

    I find that the support on that site, and on the https://getsatisfaction.com/galleria/topics site to be exceptionally vague by the [VIP], and not very helpful. I am at a loss as to why those in the know are unwilling to even suggest which file to put the code into, or offer any screenshot of the edits.

    I have previously seen the page you suggest, and dismissed it because;
    A) I was looking to use url buttons and not text,
    and
    B) The offered code is a bodge/hatchet job within the html file, instead of a proper clear code insert/edit in an existing js file.

    This belief is proven by the offered "senior-gallery" at the http://nspstudio.squarespace.com/ website not having any control buttons on it. The page http://nspstudio.squarespace.com/senior-gallery/ either will not load the gallery, or it will load - and throw up a whole list of errors after the initial play.

    The second page that is offered as using the bodged html file does load the gallery, but the buttons either don't load or are inconstant in operation.

    And proof that the slideshow uses a bodged html code instead of editing the js file is here www.fyeoboudoirphotography.com/gifts_for_christmas_c.asp

    I have tried these pages in Chrome, Firefox and IE and really am not impressed with the "official support" offered by Gallerio.

    Even people's request with help to stop the navigation buttons from moving was responded to with suggestions of new script to counteract the action, instead or removing or cancelling it out.

    My reason for wanting to use url buttons and for the js files to be correctly edited, is because I want users of mobile devices to be able to view my slide shows, and pause the slideshow to view a specific image. Currently, with "pause on mouse over "the mobile device user has to tap on the screen - which brings up the "Save as" option menu - which blocks the image.

    I'm sure that you're aware that many people are now accessing websites by mobile device, and traditional pc's are deceasing in popularity. So we need to be aware of these issues and resolve them - hence coming here for good clear advice and assistance.

    Many thanks

    Mark

    A-it tells you how to do that but you do not understand that all of the coding can be done through the js file and or by adding some code to the start code on the page.Either way it works but the easiest way is the way you call "bodge/hatchet job"

    B--that is the easiest way for a non javascript guru to make changes to get the effect wanted.

    You should be asking for help at Galleria from one of their techies-they could help the easiest way.

    But I hope John or someone else jumps in here to help you.He is a great javascript guru.

    But he will have to do the same and learn/look at the support info to see how to do what you want to do and how to get those effects.

    Anyway,good luck
    Thanks,

    Bud

    I've search and asked question on http://support.galleria.io/discussions, and answered more than I've asked. No [VIP] has responded to my questions. Many other peoples similar questions have also gone unanswered, for years. And many of the responses are bodge jobs instead of addressing the JS or adding action commands.

    Really can't stress how unimpressed I am with the support at that site. I think this post about the paid services speaks volumes http://support.galleria.io/discussio...e-galleria-bar

    Just to clarify my aims

    Jack Anderson's Gallery View slide show has great slide play/pause control. The JS file jquery.gallerview-3.0-dev.js has reams of code for play and pause of the slide show. The slideshow controls (play/pause) are wrapped up in the div called gv_navWrap.

    My example is at www.dorsetdog.com/vertical-gallery-slideshow

    The only problem with Gallery View is that it just displays a blank square on pc's that haven't been updated.

    Whilst the Galleria slide show seems to display well on all computers, even those not kept up to date - the js file galleria.classic.js has reams of code for playing videos, but noting seems to be right for play and pause the actual slide show.

    So the issue for me is how much of the jquery.gallerview-3.0-dev.js do I drag out and paste into the galleria.classic.js file. Obviously names need to be changed, such as gv_navWrap to something appropriate for galleria.

    Searching jquery.gallerview-3.0-dev.js for the word "play" using Notepad or similar reveals section of navigation code that I think is relevant - but it's beyond my knowledge/skill.

    galleria-1.3.5.js jquery.galleryview-3.0-dev.js
