No transitions in DHTML Billboard Script

I used this script on the front-page of my website (www.hwwchurch.org.uk) a couple of years ago and have been very pleased with it.

I did try both FF and Chrome sometime back and noticed the transitions didn't seem to work (which was half the beauty of the script!), but decided to make no changes because the script still worked with IE8, and IE9, and I figured (rightly or wrongly) that most people would be using these still.

Fairly recently, my computer updated itself and I've now got a new version of IE10. The transitions now don't work on my machine! I note it's not just my coding - the DD example page exhibits the same problem.

Are there any fixes for this, please? I like this script because it's dynamic enough to be interesting, but not so in-your-face as to be distracting.

Unfortunately that's a really old scripts which caters to the 'features' and capabilities of older browsers.

Browsers and JavaScript libraries have come a long way in recent times, giving us a much richer experience with image/slide transitions and slideshows/content switchers. Its a good time to upgrade to something more modern and robust - have a look at some of these http://www.lovedesignblog.com/index....lider-plugins/

I might add that the Billboard script transitions never worked in any browser except IE. They rely upon a now abandoned proprietary feature of IE (css filters) which started in IE 5, was more or less perfected in IE 6 except when used with images that have alpha channel opacity gradients (semi-transparent PNG), became less reliable in 7, 8, and 9 but still functional with various issues especially when applied to text and still problematic with images with alpha channel opacity gradients. Finally in IE 10 they've been dropped completely.

That's a real nice list of sliders Beverley! Many if not most of them can be used to get something close to what Billboard used to do in IE 6.
