what is the code used to get the drop down menu. Can you recommend some Dynamic Drive scripts that would be easier to follow? Also can you recommend an easy to follow DD slide show?

It's a custom menu, using jQuery. Seems to start around line 2632 of /js/jquery.main.js.

You might look at the DD Mega Menu as an alternative.
