The article needs to be more specific, though: it's not a "loophole" or "bug" in HTML5; it's poor implementation on the part of browser vendors (nice to see Fx ahead of the game again, though!).
HTML 5 may be all new and fancy, but it is kind of up to the vendors to make it work. Other than that, good find Beverleyh and thanks for sharing
actually, it's more-or-less the other way 'round: vendors made it work, so the WHATWG wrote a new and fancy spec.
