Need videohelp

Hi, there.

I'm making a website for my local theater, and they want to have a video of some activity on the theater.
I've converted the video so I have: mp4, Webm and swf on the server.

I've used this:

              <source src="/video/oj_stav.mp4" type="video/mp4">
              <source src="/video/oj_stav.webm" type="video/webm">
                  <object data="/video/oj_stav.mp4" width="600" height="400">
                    <embed src="/video/oj_stav.swf" width="600" height="400">

            </video>

But in Firefox it says:
No video with supported format and MIME type found

How come it doesn't work?
I've read, that Firefox should be able to show mp4....

Can you please help?

It does not look like Firefox supports the MP4 format.

I have the Webm file... but it doesn't show...

The last link - about the solution.. there's something I don't understand.

I needed to configure my server to deliver html5 formats. This requires a .htaccess file. You can put it in any directory and it will not effect directories above, just within that folder or below. It is simple a txt file that has code like this:


AddType video/mp4 mp4 m4v
AddType audio/mp4 m4a
AddType video/ogg ogv
AddType audio/ogg ogg oga
AddType video/webm webm


Make sure that when it is uploaded, it is renamed to not include the .txt. The file name should be .htaccess Let me know if you have questions with this. I have been pulling my hair out over this for weeks and am so happy to finally have it playing on Firefox. Hope this helps....

What is .htaccess?
Is it just a text file?
How do one incorporate this to a page?
Must I link to it?
