Default Making a GIF out of video

I was wondering how to make a gif animation out of a clip from a video file. I think you put the frames from the video into the gif... I don't know. Could someone please tell me how?

    some examples are:

    etc.

google virtual dub. if you have an avi you can change it to an image sequence. then just import it into image ready or you can import the video into image ready. but with virtual dub you can select only the part you want and make it an image sequence.

Didn't he say that? virtua dub, image ready.

Now... if you want to go and buy programs, After Effects and QT pro both have functionality like this. (one is about 30x cheapter (QT), though, heh.)

...And depending on how long it is, you could just open the file in QT (not pro, or pro if you want) hit ctrl+c, paste into a new frame for an animation in some application, then go back to QT, copy the next frame, etc. Wouldn't take that long.

The GIMP has several video-importing plugins. An AVI one is available for Windows or from source.

Seems to imply the licenses are optional. Does it require one on installation?

    Free trial? ^_^

If you do have to pay, what a waste. Buy QT pro and be done with it. $30.

Seems to me you are both mistaken. The price is not $200. It is $29.95 and $39.95. You can download it free for a trial. No problem. Photoshop CS2 can actually do video to gif. All you have to do is save it as a .gif file, it will then prompt you for some conversion factors etc. I am not sure if you have photoshop, but I like it. It's good all around.

Not for the Pro version. There's a free trial, then:
    Code:
Personal license 199.95 USD	Buy Now via SWREG
Business License 299.95 USD	Buy Now via SWREG
Business License (CD-ROM delivery) 309.95 USD	Buy Now via SWREG
Apart from this, it's closed-source software.
