fadeslideshow not working on Chrome

3) Describe problem: Fadeslideshow is not working on Chrome on either MAC or PC. Just a blank space.

Does it have something to do with the https URL?

I tested on other browsers and appears to be working ok, though on IE I had to acknowledge unsecure content first

Is there a work around to stop the Alert ....?

Hmm this is a rather odd one- at a glance everything looks ok, no JS errors etc. The SSL layer over your domain shouldn't affect the script. Try creating a blank page with just the Fade In Slideshow, and see if it works. It if does, slowly add in the rest of the page's content to isolate the issue. There are a lot of other scripts on your page, and one of them may be conflicting with this one somehow. Your page's CSS layout may also be a possible culprit.

If you look in Chrome's developer's console, there is an obvious error. And it is because of the https URL. Chrome is refusing to load the insecure script:

Change it to:

<script type="text/javascript" src="https://ajax.googleapis.com/ajax/libs/jquery/1.4.2/jquery.min.js"></script>

The browser cache may need to be cleared and/or the page refreshed to see changes.

I figured out the https on the jquery link, but http was still bringing the fadeslideshow demo to its knees ... until I substituted my own https images for the images in the demo. Would be easier for newbs if the images were on a secure server.

Yes, but the admin of the site doesn't, as far as I know, have a handy ssl partition, and even if he does, he sets images and several other files so that they cannot be hot linked. If you have them in your cache, you can hot link to them while they remain in cache. Otherwise you will get the broken image token or an error (depending upon the file type) regardless of where they are. It's my understanding (could be wrong, I don't run the main site, am only a sometimes contributor to it), that this is done to minimize calls to the DynamicDrive servers, and thus to spare them the expense that live non-cached hot linking would entail as far as their throughput goes.

That all said, you make a valid point, it would be easier for the novice. My best suggestion is, under the circumstances, if you don't already have images of your own to test the script(s) with, then download the DD example images and use them from your hard drive or your server.
