    Default Sandy is visiting us

Well,we are expecting nasty weather here in Connecticut.I live in Groton on the coast in eastern CT.Although the storm is supposed to hit land in NJ we will be on the side with strong winds and pretty high storm surge combined with high tides.

I don't know when I will be back online-hopefully in a few hours I may be back breifly before the weather is real bad, providing the wind does not hit us too hard too early.

    Hope everyone stays safe.

Alright, good luck through the storm. I know John said he's expecting it soon too. I'm significantly inland so at worst it'll probably be some rain later in the week.

It's Sandy not Sally and it's headed right for me, I'm SW of Philadelphia. The only thing that might save us here is that we're quite a bit inland. But this storm is supposed to reach Ohio, so I guess that's not a great comfort. At least I'm on a hill and had a lot of tree work done this past summer, so I and my house should be OK. I also cleaned out some gutters to clear the way for all the rain, and put away the grill and lawn furniture, and anything else that might blow around. My neighbors haven't done as much though so I might see some of their stuff flying around. I hate the idea of being without power and internet though. I hope it doesn't come to that.

With a few words changed, it could be a tribute to this storm. I'd start with changing all instances of 'aurora' to 'ocean'.

Thanks! Looks like my immediate area has been spared. Too soon to be certain, the storm does seem to have moved on though. Now I feel like a fool for all of my preparations and a bit exhausted from them. But considering the destruction left in the wake of this storm, I guess they were worth it. Better safe than sorry.

Well, this was a time to be glad I don't live on the shore(1/4 mile from it)

We lost power for only about 18 hours or so.Slight/minimal damage to our condominiums

lots of damage from storm surge complicated by high tides
    Thanks,

    Bud
