I am looking for a free chat room Kind of Like the "lycos" one .

But one that we can host ourselves can some one help me please.

freejavachat requires the Java Plugin, which most people don't have. A server-side approach would be more efficient.

Most people have it, but there are a significant portion who don't.
Have a look at phpMyChat.

Note that phpMyChat requires a MySql database (you have to give your username/password and db name in the config file).

The title "Free Chat Room" and a post count of one... Very convincing. But maybe he/she was just trying to prove his/her point that it is free.
