    First thing to try is to comment out the noConflict directive in the sticky note script. Using a text only editor like NotePad, add the comment tokens (red):

    Code:
    /* Sticky Note Script v2.0
    * Created: Feb 7th, 2011 by DynamicDrive.com. This notice must stay intact for usage
    * Author: Dynamic Drive at http://www.dynamicdrive.com/
    * Visit http://www.dynamicdrive.com/ for full source code
    */

    // Unofficial update Sept. 22nd, 2012 for ability to set persist days of cookie and for optional opt out checkbox.
    // See: http://www.dynamicdrive.com/forums/showthread.php?71077-Sticky-Note-with-24-cookie-and-also-a-quot-never-display-again-quot-option
    // Later in that same thread Sept. 24rth, 2012 for optional delay before showing the stickybox

    //jQuery.noConflict()

    function stickynote(setting){
    	var thisobj=this
    	this.cssfixedsupport=!document.all || document.all && document.compatMode=="CSS1Compat" && window.XMLHttpRequest //check for CSS fixed support
    	this.reposevtstring='res
    Save and use that version of the script.

    The browser cache may need to be cleared and/or the page refreshed to see changes.

    Thanks for the response John. I've done what you said and I think it is OK now, but is that it? Will I need to redefine the variable now that noConflict has been disabled?

    No. noConflict really doesn't need to be part of the Sticky Note script. It's author put it there just in case some other script library (like MooTools or Prototype) was in use. If all your scripts are either jQuery based and/or regular javascript, you don't need noConflict. In fact, using it in cases like that can, as you've just seen, cause problems.
