    Default "sketch" is broken

After functioning forever, images on this page http://www.auntnini.com/sketch/index.htm do not show. I assume it is the old JavaScript in <Head>. Have to confess do not know how to debug.

It would be greatly appreciated if a kind soul can give some guidance.

    Page is working locally.

Works fine here. What browser(s) are you having a problem with?

    Default school updates

Thanks for response. Using computers at school, where they have just done some updates (e.g., installing Adobe CS6, etc.). Safari is Version 5.1.7 (6534.57.2), Firefox on MAC and PCs is 12.

Old site could use some updating too. Very old version of script used for "sketch" is different than "new stuff" page (which still works). They are both XHTML docType. Strange that page just quit working all of a sudden (even with new browser versions) with no backward compatibility?

Even stranger is the following, which just poppped up on Friefox MAC when Thanks was clicked

The Thanks Button still works. It's just a non-fatal glitch left over from the last Vbulletin update the forum did.

I have Safari 5.1.7 for Win and it's good in that too.

Sounds like some problem with the school's network perhaps blocking it.

It's very unlikely it would stop working in all those browsers on both those platforms unless there were some other issue, like the school's network itself.

    But, anything is possible.

    Default working now

Strange, but today "sketch" is working again on MAC Firefox 12 and Safari 5.1.7 and Windows Firefox12, Safari and Internet Explorer 8. On Windows, there was option to LogOff without "updates"?

On Firefox 12, noticed can no longer View>PageSource. Now it's under TOOLS>WebDeveloper>View Source.

What you're dealing with is now almost 100% guaranteed an artifact of the school's updates. As long as things are working I wouldn't worry about it. In another week or so, you will probably be so used to the new look and feel of everything that you will have all but forgotten how it was before.

If you want to spend the time, you could still update your sketch site. In my experience though, just because a script is old and outdated doesn't mean it's no longer serviceable.

A good fit if you wanted to update might be:

    http://www.dynamicdrive.com/dynamici...thumbnail2.htm

As for why things were not working - if it really was as seems to be the case an artifact of the network update, that sort of thing is outside my expertise. If the network is administered in a competent manner, obvious problems (like failure to load images) will be resolved.

The change to Firefox sounds as if they installed it with an addon and configured it that way. I don't think that's its default behavior.

The logout option with IE has me a little stumped, though it too is probably part of the network update, and from the sounds of it a mistake or artifact. If I'm right on that, you will stop seeing it sooner or later. It could be in reference to the page you were viewing though. Like if you made changes to something via an interface on that page and were closing the browser before saving those changes.
