Set two keyframes, each with the same image in, on one layer.
On the first keyframe, set opacity to 0%.

Then, simply click on any of the frames inbetween the two keyframes, and select a tween option which works for your image.

Thank you for your help. I feel kind of dumb here. I seem to get stuck when I insert more than one set of fade in fade out images. I can get the first sequence to work of the fade in fade out, but how do I continue to insert more images to do the same? When I insert 2 more keyframes and put the next image into it, I seem to have a problem. Or am I just supposed to insert a frame and then another keyframe. I must still be doing something wrong.

Use a new layer for every image.
