Default Help with making a JS compliant.

New to the site since last night and their is some cool stuff here. I have a webpage for clown imagery so i thought this script would fit perfect. Only problem is when using <!doctype html> it breaks. I'm not too code savvy when it comes to JS or compliance for that matter:/ Is this script too old or can it be saved?
