    Default Smooth Navigational Menu/Contribute issue

I have a client who wants to take over edits of their site using Contribute. The site works fine but when we try to edit the pages in Contribute the menu list gets double spaced and the flyouts are all in one long vertical box. I got an error message that says: Unable to set value of property 'className': object is null or undefined.

I am NOT a big code person so I am hoping this is an easy fix. Here's a page for reference:

    Thank you for any help!

I just wanted to add that the pop-up window in Contribute says:

    Script Error:
    Line: 49
    Char: 2
Error: Unable to set value of the property 'className': object is null or undefined
    Code: 0
    URL: http://westhillshop.com/ddsmoothmenu.js

Does that mean it's JS error or an error in the CSS?

I found your post when I was looking for a solution to the same problem. This is a javascript error telling you that it can't change the class name because the object doesn't exist yet. What is probably happening is that your js code is executing before your page acutely loads. I don't have time to give you an exact solution but I would recommend looking at something like -
    window.onload = function() { }

    This solved my problem.
    Good luck.

    firstly:

ok.... anyone that has the time out there reading this... can you perhaps provide something more of an answer that will help others?

Sorry, but a corner of page 147 of a book does not tell you what the book is or what it's about... yanno?

My issue is that I get "unable to set the value of the property 'className'; object is null or undefined" when loading my page locally. I've got the CSS files in /css and the js files in /js (I like to keep things a little tidy). Not sure if the info helps

    Mahalo!
