Chained Selects using jQuery and Ajax

Hi I am looking for a chained select script that will allow me to place the majority of its content into an external file and call it using Ajax.

I've been searching Google and found this script http://www.appelsiini.net/projects/chained the problem I have is the instructions are not very straight forward, and as such not very clear.

Does anyone know of something similar?

Judging from the silence on this, there must be no script out there with a better tutorial than the one I found.

Does anyone at DD now if any of their chained select scripts could be adapted to do what I require?

Yhe explanation seems clear enough. The only thing I was left scratching my head about was the this "json.php" file. What goes in there? But there is an example on github:

In fact if you follow the author's link to github:

you can probably find all the required files to setup the demo he talks about. Then it should be a simple matter to edit it to your own purposes.

It does require a PHP enabled server though. Do you have one?

you can probably find all the required files to setup the demo he talks about. Then it should be a simple matter to edit it to your own purposes.

Maybe I'm tired or something but nothing that I'm looking at on the site you linked to looks straight forward to me

No database that I can see. When I have more time I will try it out. I have no PHP server, but I have wamp which lets me test PHP.

OK, I took a timeout when I got back, I went to:

hit the download button and opened it up on my wamp server. The non-AJAJ part worked right out of the box, but the AJAJ part required some fiddling with the json.php file (commenting out the a1, b1 portions of it) and although I got it sort of working for the cars part, it's still not 100%.

But you should try it. My wamp server is very strict, that may or may not be the problem.

I'll probably have more of a look at getting it 100% when I have more time.

BTW, I have no database, and from what I can tell, none is required.

I have Wampserver also, generaly I only use it for testing wordpress stuff before uploading. I'll give it a go

I want to know it this possible to make it with Mysql and php? because I have lot data so I can't write that in JSON.php file.

or is there any other way to create it. even using AJAX or Jquery.

As this is an old thread and the script that it talks about may have been updated or there may be a better script out there for your purposes, and because I cannot test out databases on my wamp server, it would be best to start a new thread for your question.

In any case, just because this is an old thread, I'm closing it. Any specific questions on it should be put in a new thread and refer back to this one via a link to it. New questions about slightly different topics need not refer back.
