Question Did you encounter a same problem about transfering iPhone contacts to SIM-Card

I am planning on selling my iPhone 4 but most of my contacts are on the iPhone and not on the sim card. How do I transfer all of my contacts from my iPhone to my sim card?

I don't believe that the iphone works with contacts stored on a sim card. I might be wrong and there might be a way to transfer them, but the standard way to back up or transfer contacts is to backup your iphone on your computer (through itunes). Then you will have your contact list. Of course if you intend to transfer them to a new phone that won't be very helpful (not direct) but at least you will have a backup list. Then if you use a phone that will coordinate with your computer (most smartphones will, now), then you could try to convert between the two.

I'd recommend doing a search for "transfer iphone contacts to ____" with the type of phone you will purchase. I'm guessing someone has had a similar problem and there may be a solution.

You can sync it in the right format for an iPhone, but not in a general use format. The problem is then importing it to a new phone. Maybe that new phone can't connect to the computer or if it can it uses a different (non-Apple) format for the contacts. You could try to do this indirectly by syncing the contacts into your address book on your computer than exporting that, such as, for example, to gmail then using those on your new google phone, or whatever equivalent is needed for the other kind of smart phone. But there is no guarantee the format will work.
Using a SIM card is a very standard method that should always work, except that a few smart phones (most importantly the iPhone) don't use SIM cards like that. (Of course if you did find a way to make it work, you'd also want to be sure that the new smart phone will use the SIM card contacts or you'd have the same problem.)

Follow these steps to import the information off the SIM card:
Remove the SIM card from your iPhone and replace it with the SIM card from your old phone.
Your phone may need to reactivate. ...
Tap Settings > Mail, Contacts, Calendars > Import SIM Contacts.

There are many ios apps that can do this job, just pick your favorite one and give it a try. Also you actually do not have to transfer your contacts to your sim because I cloud ill do this job for you and you do not have to worry about it. When you will login in your new device just login to your account and you will see all of your contacts.
