image zoom problems

I'm using imagepowerzoomer.js to zoom a dynamic image. My selector is working, but the magnifier is obscured by the main image. Is this an opacity problem, or is there a setting so the magnifier can appear within the image?
I am not using a second, larger image but instead am enlarging the original image.

If it's something like opacity (which is a css property), it would probably be z-index. But it could be anything.
