I have just joined the site.
I am at the moment using PSPX and Animation shop to compose and sometimes create animated gifs.
I have been told by someone on another site that I would be better off using photoshop and imageready.
I have downloaded them but cant seem to get anywhere with the animations in imageready. Even using their help files.
Am I being a bit senile(61) or is it that imageready is not for animated graphics other than text?

If you have the new version of Photoshop (CS2) you can create an animated gif directly in Photoshop CS2 without the use of Image Ready. To do this take your image and merge all of the layers. The duplicate the layer as many times as you want. Change each layer to what you want each frame to show. Then at the top of the screen click window and tell PS to show the Animation window. This will show you the different frames and you can decide how long you want them to appear on the screen. Basically any tutorial that you can find online for Image Ready animation can be used with the animation tool in Photoshop CS2.
