3) Describe problem: I am using the marquee code on www.oss-shamrocks.com. The text I include in ticker.xml appears in both IE8 and Firefox 3.6.13 (although a line higher than in IE8), but does not appear at all in Chrome 8.0.552.224.

I am a rookie website designer and would greatly appreciate advice on how to make the code work consistently in these 3 browsers.

Looks like this script requires an update for Chrome. In the meantime though, there is Ajax XML ticker, which does work in Chrome as well: http://www.dynamicdrive.com/dynamici...ajaxticker.htm

Thanks for the advice! Got the Ajax code to work in IE and Firefox, but unfortunately no words show in Chrome.

Did you try Ajax XML Ticker instead? Looking at your page just now, it seems you're still using the original script.

After posting to the web, the ticker wording now appears in Chrome. I am too new at this to understand why IE and Firefox would work when the files were saved on my computer, but Chrome did not work until I uploaded to the server.

I am having another problem with the ajax ticker that I had with the XML ticker in that in Firefox the words appear too low. IE and Chrome look good.
Any help with that? Right now I just have short texts but will soon put school announcements in the ticker and will need Firefox to display like IE and Chrome or the text will run off my marquee.

This just seems to be the way Chrome behaves- in that browser, Ajax is only executed when it's run online, which practically speaking rather than a little inconvenience when it comes to testing doesn't make much of a difference.

Hmm the text appears very similiar in FF and say IE for me. Here's a screenshot in FF of what I see:

Thanks for checking it out. After a tremendous amount of reading online yesterday, it turns out the solution was to tag my maincontainer as relative and then the div holding the text as absolute. I got that idea from reading http://www.barelyfitz.com/screencast...s/positioning/

I must have spent about 6 hours on that code yesterday before nailing it.
