Show Hint - CSS / JS script problem

I'm a script challenged ignoramus. Would some scriptmeister please look at my source at http://www.mansfieldwoods.net/homespun and tell me why the hintbox script I have employed works differently on the 2 succeeding pages I'm using it in?

The home page popup when onMouseOver the right hand photo should appear to the left of the photo, instead it falls off the screen to the right. On the page following it works properly. The scripts are identical.

I know the script was written for much older browser versions, but why does one work and not the other?
