    Exclamation AI file Editable?

    Hey People,

Just a very quick question. I've never really used illustrator so please excuse my lack of knowledge.

The client provided me with a logo (300kb) in AI format. But I need to translate this into ENGLISH, I open this in Illustrator but I can't seem to figure out how to edit it.

I'm able to turn on/off the layers, but not edit them.

How can this be done? Any help would be awesome!

    Thank you!

I don't have AI on the computer at the moment, but here is a quick description:

    1. You need to open/locate the tools palette. Find the text tool, a "T" icon.

    2. Select the right layer; click on the text (with the "T" tool).

    3. Now you should be able to edit it and do what you need.

If this does not work (if you cannot select the text), then the problem is likely that the layer has been rasterized: it has been rendered from text data into image data-- not something you can edit any longer. However, I don't know if this can happen in a vector image format like AI. In Photoshop it can, but that's because it's a pixel based image, not vector. So you probably can still edit the text. I don't use AI often though.

There should be tutorials available or just the basic help files: this is a standard feature.
