'null, not an object' error in drop-down menus

1) Script Title: ddlevelsmenu and chrome menu

2) Script URL (on DD):

3) Describe problem:
Drop downs not happening in IE and Opera; getting a "null, not an object" error message, which shows the error to be in the js files;
line 176 for the chrome js
line 338 for the ddlevels js

Works in Firefox and chrome.

what am i doing wrong?

That only covers the problem with chrome, though the two may be related. Let me know if there are other problems.
