Smooth Navigational Menu Vertical Menu Doesn't Work

This problem is actually starting to drive me crazy, as I have a limited Javascript knowledge. The problem I'm having is, I use the code that is posted and paste it between the <body> tags in my site. Both menus (the vertical and horizontal) work perfectly fine. When I remove the vertical menu, the horizontal menu works perfectly fine. The problem is that I need the vertical menu only and not the horizontal menu, but when I remove the horizontal menu from the HTML code, the vertical menu no longer works, except for the hovers on the main buttons. I have checked the HTML code a few times and have completely trashed and re-copied the code multiple times, but nothing seems to work.
