I installed the automatic slideshow and the manual controls (prev, next) and everything is working very fine! Thank you!

Now I want to add some small images which should link to their "big" slide (starting the show with this image). Is there a way to start the show with this special image?

Are you essentially asking how to create thumbnail versions of each slide that when clicked on loads the actual slide within the slideshow? If so check out the section Creating the navigation links for a manual slideshow on the script page (lower half) for more info. There is also the script Featured Content Slider that supports this more intimately.

yes you are right. I have still installed the navigation links for a manual slideshow. The featured Content Slider is also very interesting, although without the persistent description panel and "peakaboo" ...
