Question Ultimate Fade-in slideshow v2.4 takes a while to load

    1) Script Title: Ultimate Fade-in slideshow (v2.4)

    2) Script URL (on DD): http://www.dynamicdrive.com/dynamici...nslideshow.htm
    3) Describe problem: It takes like 10 seconds or more to start the slideshow. Is there any coding changes that will bring the first image right up quicker? Here is my example that is slow to start:

I looked at your page and it didn't take very long to start. I am not on a very fast connection right now, either. (It's not especially slow, but sometimes it stalls.)

I'm using Firefox. What browser are you using?

The simplest answer may be this: your images are quite large so to load this it takes some time.

One way you could try to work around this is to set a background image behind the slideshow of the first image. That would still need to wait for that image to load, but then the others could load any time. I'm not sure if this preloads all before starting, but if it does, that would at least give the user something to look at while waiting.

    Cool

I changed from random true to random false. I also compressed the jpegs a little more and it seems quicker now.

Random true or false shouldn't make much difference if any. Compressing/optimizing images is very important. The show starts on the first image, as soon as it's ready, so its size (byte wise) is key.
