How to place rest of the page components

I have a horizontal menu created and manipulated using jQuery to be place in the middle of the page slight down from the top. The menu is working fine. However, the rest of the elements like banner and other page components that are supposed to be below the menu (jquery manipulated) are positioning from the top making the menu appear in the middle.

Can someone point me in the right direction as to how I can place these page elements work in concert so that they are positioned to relative to their previous DOM element?

The positioning is handled in my jQuery using CSS....
