Question Inserting text over an image via a form on the same page...?

    Hi everyone,

I wasn't sure exactly where to post this, so I've stuck it here.

I have a need to create a form in to which the user enters data, and then it is seen over an image. This is for a small personalisation site a friend needs help with.

The effect I want to achieve is much like the way Moonpig and many other personalisation sites have it functioning.

I'm not asking anybody to provide me with the code, I just need to know where to start. I get the impression that jQuery is used (of which I know very little about), but I need a starting point. Which functions do I need to look into, etc?

I'm happy to learn how to do it all, but if anyone can give me a nudge in the right direction, I'd be very grateful.

Any thoughts or suggestions would be very helpful.

    Many thanks in advance!

Like captcha? Can you post a link to a page where this feature is used?

No, its more for a personalization service like this one: http://designer.inktastic.com/design...nfant-creepers. This link is from a thread I was on ages ago and totally forgot about. Someone ended up building it but that code isn't available now. I've spent a few hours looking at it, but to no avail.

Its using php gd and ajax, which is well beyond me. If you have any ideas on how to get started, I'd be so grateful.

Thanks for your interest so far.

I still have no idea what you are looking for, that link doesn't work.

If you can be more specific I or someone could probably help you out.

At this point I'd say look at the css property z-index and php $_POST or $_GET requests.

Sorry. It might be my blackberry. Try this link...

Hopefully this explains it better than I have. This is ideal for what I need, but I don't know how hard it is to achieve...

Thanks for your continued interest (and patience)!

That's mostly (if not all) javascript I'd try posting in that section of this forum... I'm not very good with javascript.

Actually, while the interface is javascript/ajax, the image itself is generated via php:
    <img src="http://designer.inktastic.com/preview.php?product_type=496&design=13808&layout=-1&user_image=&product_color=&line1=&line2=&line3=&line4=&color1=000000&color2=000000&bg_color1=ffffff&bg_color2=&size1=180&size2=&font1=CooperBlack">
Probably using GD. Complicated. (resource-intensive, too)
