Switch Menu

I have figured out that I can separate the submenu from the menutitle, and put them in different places on the page. What I am hoping to be able to do is to have multiple submenus for a given menutitle.

So, I would have a menutitle(sub1) that onclick would display submenu (sub1) below it. and, would also display an image on the other side of the page with the id of (sub1)

Is this possible, or is there a better way to attack this?
