Red face Can I define tooltips on separate page?

    1) Script Title: Rich HTML Balloon Tooltio

    2) Script URL (on DD): http://www.dynamicdrive.com/dynamici...oontooltip.htm

    3) Describe problem: This is probably very simple but I am sort of braindead from working too hard on a project.

I would like to define all of my tooltips on a separate page then the one I am calling the tips from. Can I put in the path to another page someplace?

    Thanks

There's no easy way to do that with this script unfortunately, as the contents of the tooltips are defined inline on the page as regular HTML markup. You might want to look at the following two tooltip scripts, which support definition of the tips inside the .js file itself, and as regular markup but inside an external page, respectively:

Thanks so much for your reply. I tried to delete my question after I asked it but couldn't figure out how.

The script worked great although I did have some problems with the tooltips showing up outside the browser window. If a link name showed up too close to the side of the edge of my window, the script expanded the size of the browser window and put the tooltip out of the viewing area. I don't think that was something I was doing wrong. And the only workaround I found was by taking the "width" designation out of the window that pops up.

Here is my page, still in beta mode.

This seems to be a bug of the script. Try the below modified .js file instead- let me know if it fixes the issue.

It fixes it somewhat. The up down arrows are still a little misplaced, but at least the tooltips do not go out of the window.

Can you upload the new .js file to your server, so I can check it out on the test page you posted?

Okay. I uploaded the new js file and I also put the width designations back in the tip style descriptions. Here is the link:

I really appreciate your help AND all of the help that I get from dynamicdrive. I really just taught myself html but have been able to do some pretty neat things thanks to dynamicdrive.
