Image Thumbnail Viewer + image counter?

Hi, I will rephrase my question:
I use the great DD´s Image Thumbnail Viewer in my blog´s gallery and it works like a charm.
In my blog, image-names are stored in a mySQL table, also comments, uploader(name) and the count of views.
In the line

<a src="img.png" rel="thumbnail">foo</a>

where the viewer will be startet: how can I add a counter.php(external) file that will be called when clicking an image?

Does anybody have an idea?
