    Default JavaScript image effect.

    hi,

    I want to make nice icon effect with JavaScript. Firstly, the icon is grey, but when you took your mouse over it, in 5 seconds it will fade to its real colors.

    It becomes grey again, when you put your mouse away. (also in 5 seconds)
    (I will use that Icon as a button)

    Can someone help me with this? Thanks.

    Or maybe it will be easier with jQuery?? Like when mouseon - image will fadeout, mouseout - fadein as it was...

    You will need the images, and a way to change them on hover. Have a look at this menu example for ways to do that.

    You will need JavaScript to do the timing though. Or Flash. I will look into the JS for timed events though while you wait.

    <edit>
    Here is a JS example of using setTimeOut.. you can combine the two to get what you need.

    Code:
    <script type="text/javascript">

    function setToRed ( )
    {
      document.getElementById("colourButton").style.color = "#FF0000";
      setTimeout ( "setToBlack()", 2000 );
    }

    function setToBlack ( )
    {
      document.getElementById("colourButton").style.color = "#000000";
    }

    </script>

    <input type="button" name="clickMe" id="colourButton" value="Click me and wait!" onclick="setToRed()"/>
