DOCtype gives slideshow horizontal scrollbar

3) Describe problem: I am using this script to have a nice slideshow, controlled by the user, with the ability to have the LightBox in it.
I used that one, and not this one (http://www.dynamicdrive.com/dynamici...iongallery.htm) because otherwise the JavaScript of the LightBox and the motiongallery conflict.

It says in the description that "the script is also updated for a Mozilla bug and now works in webpages with a strict doctype setting". When I use the following doctype, there appears a horizontal scrollbar, as wide as all the content of the images together.

How can the scrollbar be avoided, please ?

But I had to use this doctype for the slideshow (click on "ballerinas") to avoid the slideshow.

Issue is not the doctypes itself; if it works, it works. But because I have to change the doctype, the site looks different in IE and FF (the menu items below move a bit to the left).

Anyone, please ?
That site is really buggin me!
- the doctypes changes the design in IE and FF
- the LightBox doesn't work with the slideshow in FF
Help appreciated!
