I am working on a project for my own use. A dynamic web page which will render an xml document and, hopefully, edit the xml and update the page at runtime. It must be dynamic and capable, and if at all possible require no server.

It has been years since I coded, and I'm definitely amateur, but I have worked with VB, JS, DHtml, css and xml. I am just in the planning phases now, relearning the capabilities, and exploring the new developments, so I am open to any language, and don't even mind being restricted to Explorer by the use of ActiveX if that is what it takes. I sure like the potential of XPath and XQuery etc, but I can't seem to find a use for them without a server.

I have been on the net for days searching for an answer and testing code to no avail, and I am at my wits end. So, is it even possible to have an HTML page load and edit a local xml document (or other file for that matter) without a server or a VB compiler, or am I on a wild goose chase?
