I am doing a website for a friend and who wants to rent out her cottage as a holiday home.

I need to do a check availability function on the website so that customers can check availability for the dates they wish to stay. Im guessing the owner will need access also to mark unavailable on dates she has taken bookings for over the phone.

How can I do this using PHP and MySQL? I am a beginner with php and sql so simple guide or web link with tutorial would be great.
