I encountered spyware/trojan downloader in the site above!
do not click the link!
Edit: specifics below:
I was redirected to the following urls:
The sites spoofed a virus warning and Norton-style system scanCode:traffirot.info/048wLxIzLGBzL==&045200942064 trustdownload.info/P4232540F5D21AB1018D82=/install.exe?counter=0 rootscan.info/24/24-048wLxIzLGBzL==
The attack attempted to download and installinstall.exe
The linked-to site itself,www.vanguardngr.com, seems to be legitimate. It's a Nigerian newspaper site. Dunno if it was hacked or what, but I was able to recreate the attack on another computer by following the link again.
Edit: UPDATE: I tried visiting the site again this morning and had no problems. If my difficulties prove to have been caused by some other issue, I'm sorry to have overreacted; I wanted to be sure noone else would be exposed to any possible threat. devtolu, I hope you'll be able to find an answer to your question. See my post below.

WHAT?!
my kaspersky don't detect anything?

that's what happened, thrice, on two different (not-connected) computers...
In each case, I had to use ctrl-alt-del to close the browser (javascript used to prevent navigating away), but the download was stopped at the "open/save file" dialog box. I just clicked cancel. I don't seem to have any viruses/etc. that successfully installed themselves (but the scan's not done yet, so I'll let you know). No unusual processes, etc.
I'm looking further into it, but so far I don't see any other explanation/cause.
this stuff is not my strong suit, but I can usually do well enough to un-fry my system. If anyone is a pro at figuring out this sort of thing, please!

i think the administrator should take a look at this post, if the link is harmful, the threat should be remove right? Thx traq.
of course.
My virus scan finished this morning and it appears that nothing actually made it onto my system.
devtolu,
I didn't mean my post as an accusation; I just wanted to be sure that no one else experienced any problems like I did. As I said, the site you intended to link to seems to be a legitimate one, and from looking at the content of your past posts, I'm sure you did not intend to post anything harmful.
I'm sorry that this took away from your original question.
Edit: see my first post above.
I did not see any unusual links/menus on the site. Can you point out the menu you're looking for, or do you have another example?

Since I'm sure it won't fry anything on OSX, I tried the link and it does go to a legitimate page, but there are a lot of things loading in the background (ads, stats, etc.) from different domains, so it's likely that whatever you ran into was something from that (and perhaps an overriding redirect that was ignored on my system). So as far as I can tell there's no foul play except the ads on the page acting uncooperatively.
