Check for Flash

I posted a thread like this in July, but i still haven't gotten an answer... I'll try again.

My site requires Flash Player. I'm looking for a script that will detect if the user has flash player installed or not. if they do, i want the script o take no action. if they don't, i want it to display an alert box. does anyone know how to do this?
