CSS Image Gallery - Flexible Alignment with one or two columns of thumbnails

3) Describe problem:

Currently with the original script, I can only have the thumbnails in one or two columns with a specific left margin as stated in the CSS file. I cannot use the same CSS file on two galleries that have one column of thumbnails and the other which has two columns (the big image will overlap the second column if the left margin is not adequate)

Is there any chance of setting the left margin to offset from the thumbnails automatically? Another possible solution I thought of is to create a inline CSS style in my index file. How can I create a inline CSS style to overwrite .thumbnail:hover span class?
