Default how to set up password to user icon on my PC

I have set up 2 user icons on my PC when I reformatted my PC last year - one for my use and one for guest-user.

My friend is coming to use my PC to do some googling for her assignment tomorrow as her PC is down.

As I have some confidential data on my PC, I would like to set up a password to my user icon.

I would appreciate if someone could advise me on how to do so. Thank you.

Do you mean you want to password protect the user account? If so, what OS are you using? If you are using Windows, you either do one of two things (depending on the long way or easy way). The easiest would be to go to "User Accounts" under the "Control Panel" and choosing "Set Password" or something along those lines.

    Hope this helps.

Does anyone know how to do this on a Mac. I'm having a friend round for a week who'll want to use my computer and I don't really want him looking around all my files etc.

    Thanks, David.
