Hi there

I am trying to create a side navigation that allows users to refine their search to select deeper into categories, for example brand, colour, price; each time they filter, the page remembers the previous selection.

This type of navigation is evident on large websites such as M&S, Littlewoods Direct, Argos etc

My products are all stored in a Mysql database and my pages coded in php.

Can anyone send me in the right direction to any tutorials?

I just need a starting place as I cannot find any info even though I have been googling around for hours! Even if anyone can give me some keywords that I can search on - is there a name for this type of navigation that I can google?
