Does anyone know of a way to have an apple script run when a file of a certain type (flv) is created in a specific folder, or if a file were created after a certain date?

I'm trying to have an apple script run when an flv is outputted from compressor. Thanks for any ideas you have.

or does anyone know of a good apple script tutorial i've seen some but none that are complete. I've seen some that claim upload is a function but none that tell how to use it and in my editor it doesn't recognize it as a function.
